That's all folks!

We won’t be running another Board Game Jam. It’s with heavy hearts that we announce this after seven successful jams and countless games made. The good news is that it’s clear we accomplished what we set out to do and it’s thanks to you!

When we started board game jam tabletop gaming was a small part of gaming culture. We wanted to share our love of board games and making them with others by providing a space to do so. Snakes & Lattes was barely up and running, no other game jam in the city allowed board games, and table top gaming culture was small—but growing rapidly! Today, playing and making board games is a common thing to see at game conventions and even other game jams. Multiple board game YouTube channels now exist and tabletop gaming conventions have ballooned in popularity. It might seem weird to us now but 2010 was a very different time.

We don’t want the drive to make games to die, so we’re excited that other game jams celebrate tabletop games now too! We’re passing on all our remaining game-making supplies to the excellent ProtoTO, which happens later this year. For more board game making fun we encourage you to check out your local board game cafe game designer night (take a moment and think about how that’s now a regular thing) and to join in the tabletop fun at Global Game Jam.
